The nationally recognized Program provides students in each of the College\u2019s five schools with the knowledge and tools to prepare for internships, graduate\/professional school, and other experiential activities essential to post-graduation success.<\/p>\n<h4>Career Competencies<\/h4>\n<p>Our students are equipped for their varied and competitive career paths. Through classroom and experiential learning, they acquire foundational skills sought by employers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Problem-solving\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u2013\u00a0using an interdisciplinary approach, critical thinking, and sound reasoning<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Analytical\/Quantitative <\/em><\/strong>\u2013 collecting and interpreting data to make decisions<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Teamwork\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u2013 working toward common goals in a collaborative, complementary manner<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Written Communication\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u2013 exchanging ideas, facts, and perspectives for understanding or to influence<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Initiative<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 leading by innovation and taking action when necessary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Professional Development and Networking<\/h4>\n<p>The Career Center provides services, programs, and opportunities that allow students to explore how their academic and personal interests related to future professional opportunities; prepare for entrance into employment, internships, and graduate school programs; and succeed through on- and off-campus interview opportunities, employer information sessions, and job and graduate school fairs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"divider\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/rcnjrd\/images\/icons\/ramapo-arch-icom_rule.png\" alt=\"Ramapo\" \/><\/div>\n<h3>How You Can Help Your Student<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><a class=\"btn\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/careercenter\/four-year-plan\/\">Career Development 4-Year Plan<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Encourage your Student to:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>V<\/strong><strong>isit the Career Center\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents who use the services we offer are more successful in obtaining internships and job offers. These services include internship\/job search, mock interviews, and networking (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naceweb.org\/about-us\/press\/use-of-career-center-tied-to-more-job-offers-more-paid-internships\/\">NACE, 2023<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Complete the Pathways Requirement<\/strong><br \/>\nWe strongly advise students to complete the Pathways requirement by the end of their sophomore year to gain valuable experience through multiple internships beginning as early as the summer after their second year.\u00a0Increasingly, employers seek graduates with 1-3 years of experience for entry-level positions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Become Involved in Student Organizations<\/strong><br \/>\nInvolvement in student and community organizations equips students with foundational skills sought by employers: problem-solving, leadership, critical thinking, teamwork, and professionalism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Emphasize the Importance of:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Internships or Research Experiences<\/strong><br \/>\nInternships and research experiences increase the likelihood of your student working in a field related to their degree. Students using the career center to find internships are more likely to get a paid internship, leading to post-graduation job offers (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naceweb.org\/about-us\/press\/use-of-career-center-tied-to-more-job-offers-more-paid-internships\/\">NACE 2023<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Networking<\/strong><br \/>\nNetworking in college is essential to finding job opportunities and better understanding the connections between majors, careers, and interests.
