The following terms and conditions are for an Academic Merit Scholarship and Ramapo Grant recipient who has been offered a scholarship award by the Office of Admissions. After receiving and accepting an Academic Merit Scholarship or Ramapo Grant, the recipient agrees to the terms and conditions set by the College.\u00a0 If you are unsure which financial aid award you may have been awarded please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 201-684-7549 or email finaid@ramapo.edu.<\/a><\/p>\n

Terms and conditions<\/h3>\n
<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Award Amount and credit criteria<\/div>
\n

The Academic Merit Scholarships and Ramapo Grants amount is renewable for 4 consecutive years or 8 consecutive semesters provided they maintain the required GPA (Grade point average) and earn 32 credits in an academic year (fall\/spring). Academic Merit Scholarships may be reduced by state grants or outside scholarships that can only be applied to tuition and fees.\u00a0 Scholarships do not cover overload credits.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Use of Admissions Scholarships<\/div>
\n

Academic Merit Scholarships and Ramapo Grants are applied directly towards students’ billable tuition and tuition related fees. Scholarships do not cover, Nursing Fees, Science lab fees, or music fees.\u00a0 The Academic Merit Scholarship and Ramapo Grants can only cover up to your billable charges.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Academic Merit Scholarship and Ramapo Grant GPA Requirements<\/div>
\n

Students must maintain the required cumulative GPA (Grade point average) associated with their Academic Merit Scholarship or Ramapo Grant as outlined in their scholarship contract.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Winter intersession and Summer Sessions<\/div>
\n

Academic Merit Scholarships cannot be applied toward winter or summer classes.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>4 Plus 1 programs or Articulation Programs<\/div>
\n

Academic Merit Scholarships or Ramapo Grants cannot be used towards the plus 1 year of your Graduate program or towards your Articulation program\/school once you leave Ramapo.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Academic Merit Scholarship Eligibility and length of awards<\/div>
\n

Incoming first year students are eligible to receive their Academic Merit Scholarships or Ramapo Grants for up to 8 consecutive semesters or 4 consecutive years. Transfer students are eligible to receive Academic Scholarships and Ramapo Grants for up to 4 consecutive semesters or two consecutive years.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Earlier completion of Undergraduate Degree<\/div>
\n

If you complete your degree before the expiration of your 8 consecutive semesters or 4 consecutive years as an incoming student or 4 consecutive semesters or 2 years as a transfer student; your remaining semester of Academic Merit Scholarship or Ramapo Grant eligibility cannot be used towards graduate school. You cannot receive a refund or payment for the remaining semester(s).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Out of State Housing Grant<\/div>
\n

The Out of State Housing Grant can only be applied towards your housing costs for living on campus. If you decide to commute your housing grant will be canceled.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Study Abroad Classes<\/div>
\n

Academic Merit Scholarships or Ramapo Grants cannot be used towards Study Abroad programs. The only allowable study abroad program is the National Student Exchange because the student is billed through\u00a0Ramapo College. Please make sure to meet with the Office of Financial Aid to discuss your payment options for study abroad classes.\u00a0https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/finaid\/<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>RA Positions and Housing Grants<\/div>
\n

If you become an RA (Resident Assistant) and you receive a full housing stipend, your out of state housing grant will be removed.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Enrollment Status and Housing<\/div>
\n

Students must maintain full-time status and enroll in at least 12 credits per semester. If you drop below full-time status which is less than 12 credits your Academic Scholarship or Ramapo grant may be taken away or reduced for the semester. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid to discuss your situation before making a change that drops you below full-time status for the semester. You should also consult with your academic advisor before taking only 12 credits as that may impact your time to graduate.. If you drop below full-time status and can no longer live on campus housing your Out-of-State Housing grant will be canceled.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Academic Merit Scholarship Review<\/div>
\n

Academic Merit Scholarship students will be reviewed at the end of the first academic year and then every semester thereafter to make sure they are making academic progress towards graduation and to ensure they maintain the required cumulative GPA. Communication will be sent to your Ramapo email only with updates on your scholarship eligibility and it is your responsibility to check your Ramapo email and reply accordingly and in a timely fashion.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Academic Merit Scholarship Probation<\/div>
\n

Students who do not meet the required GPA for their Merit Scholarship semester may be placed on Academic probation for the upcoming semester. If your scholarship is taken away for failure to meet the GPA requirements for your scholarship or for not earning the required 32 credits in a year, you will be given a chance to appeal. All appeals will be processed through the Office of Financial Aid https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/finaid\/<\/a>. Please feel free to contact the Office of Financial Aid with any questions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Ramapo Grants Review and Appeals<\/div>
\n

Students who received a Ramapo grant will be reviewed at the end of every academic year to ensure you are meeting the required GPA and academic progress requirements of 24 credits per year. If your Institutional grant is taken away for failure to meet the GPA requirements or for not meeting the academic progress requirements earning 24 credits in a year; you will be given a chance to appeal. All appeals will be processed through the Office of Financial Aid. https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/finaid\/<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Deferral of Admission<\/div>
\n

Any first year student who has been approved to defer their admission for up to one year may be offered the same scholarship when they enter Ramapo College. The scholarship will only be awarded to the student provided they have not enrolled at, or earned credits from, another college or university during the deferral period.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Internships<\/div>
\n

If the student is enrolled in an internship that is billed through Ramapo College then the Academic Merit Scholarship and Ramapo Grant can be applied towards the bill.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Leave of Absence<\/div>
\n

If a student takes an Official Leave of Absence through the Office of Student Success, the Academic Merit Scholarship and Ramapo grants will be placed on hold until the student returns. The student, upon reinstatement, will receive the balance of the remainder of the consecutive scholarship semesters, minus the semesters the student has already used. .
\nIf the student is out longer than the official return date they will need to reapply to the college and they will lose their Academic Merit Scholarship and Ramapo Grants. Students can file an appeal with the Office of Financial Aid to have their scholarships or grants reinstated.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Readmitted Students<\/div>
\n

Students who are dismissed due to failure to make academic progress may be readmitted to the college but their Academic Merit Scholarships or Ramapo Grants will not be reinstated.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Medical Leave<\/div>
\n

If a student takes an Official Medical Leave of Absence through the Office of Student Success, the Academic Merit scholarship and Ramapo Grant will be used to pay their current semester.\u00a0 There will be no refund or adjustment. The student, upon reinstatement, will receive the balance of the remainder of the consecutive scholarship semesters, minus the semesters the student has already used.<\/p>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Questions about your Merit Scholarship or Ramapo Grant<\/div>
\n

All questions regarding your Academic Merit Scholarships or Ramapo Grants can be sent to the Office of Financial Aid. You can email the office of financial aid at finaid@ramapo.edu<\/a> or call at 201-684-7549. An appointment is not required so please feel free to stop by the office to ask any question you may have.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Code of Conduct Requirement<\/div>
\n

Students must abide by all College rules and regulations and other guidelines pertaining to the College Code of Conduct. If a student is required by the College to withdraw, or has been found in violation of the College Code of Conduct, this scholarship is terminated immediately and permanently.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span>Unofficial Withdrawals<\/div>
\n

Students who unofficially withdraw from the college will lose their Academic Merit Scholarship or Ramapo Grant and will need to reapply for readmissions to the college. Upon readmittance the student will no longer be eligible for an Academic Merit Scholarship or Ramapo Grant.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
