Ms. Schaefer serves on the board at the N.Y. Philharmonic and the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation.\u00a0 She received the President\u2019s Award of Merit in 1997 and was honored as a Distinguished Citizen in 2002.\u00a0 She is a member of the Salameno School of Humanities and Global Studies alumni advisory board. Ms. Schaefer earned a B.A. in Psychology from Ramapo College and a master\u2019s degree in clinical social work from Columbia University; she also completed a program in family therapy at the University of Pennsylvania.
