CLINICAL PRACTICE CAPSTONE: ELEMENTARY<\/a>\u00a0 (HRS 12)<\/li>\n<li>Total: (HRS 12)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Total Credits Required: <\/strong>128 credits<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum GPA: <\/strong>3.0<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>*Ideally, students should be fully admitted into the program <strong><u>by the end of their first year at Ramapo.<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0 Transfer students should be admitted before registration date of their first semester on campus.\u00a0 Students should be directed early to the TE program for admissions requirements.<\/p>\n<p>**Students must be fully admitted into the TE program before registering for EDUC 222.\u00a0 It is recommended that EDUC 211, EDUC 222, EDUC 346 and EDUC 360 be taken in different semesters as each will require clinical experience hours in schools.<\/p>\n<p>***New regulations will require students to have either 6 credits of Special Education, or the equivalent, to be eligible for certification upon completion of the TE Program.\u00a0 Ramapo College will fulfill this requirement by continuing to require EDUC 360, a 4 credit course, and will fulfill the remaining 2 credit equivalent by requiring students complete a minimum of 60 hours of fieldwork while enrolled in the course.\u00a0 These hours will satisfy the requirement of both the mandated Special Education fieldwork experience and the 2 credit equivalent associated with the 4 credit course.<\/p>\n<p>****Only offered fall semester. These four courses are co-requisites and must be taken the semester prior to Clinical Practice Capstone.<\/p>\n<p>State mandates, as of Fall 2018, will require one full year of Clinical Practice (CP).\u00a0 At Ramapo, that will be done on a Fall-Spring model.\u00a0 In the first semester, students must complete 180 hours of clinical practice requirements; in the spring they must complete 525 hours during Clinical Practice Capstone (student teaching.).\u00a0 <sup>CP 1, 2, 3, and 4<\/sup> will each require 45 hours, in addition to in-seat time, in local K-12 schools.<\/p>\n<p>*Elementary Probability and Statistics (MATH 108) is recommended for the major, but you need to have a MATH 100 level course (i.e. MATH 100T, 101, 104, 106, 110, or 121) completed in order to take Math for Elementary Educators (MATH 210).<\/p>\n<p>This major has enough space built-in that students <strong><u>could elect to complete a middle school endorsement within the 4 years to graduation and certification.<\/u><\/strong> Students must have 15 credits (4 Ramapo courses) in a particular content area (language arts, science, social studies, or math), PSCY 347 (Adolescent Psychology, included in 4-year plan), 2 on-campus non-credit seminars, and passage of the appropriate middle school content Praxis examination to earn a middle school endorsement.\u00a0 Interested students should seek guidance from Teacher Education Program staff.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>PLEASE NOTE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Transportation to and from clinical experience and clinical practice placements <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>is the responsibility of individual students.\u00a0 Please plan accordingly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><u>If transportation is or may be an issue, please visit the TE program offices <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><u>BEFORE you register for a course which requires a K-12\/off campus school placement.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NOTE: This recommended Four-Year Plan is applicable to students admitted into the major during the 2019-2020 academic year.
