{"id":995,"date":"2025-08-21T14:11:43","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T18:11:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/its\/?page_id=995"},"modified":"2025-12-09T10:56:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T15:56:15","slug":"ai-tools-rcnj","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/its\/ai-tools-rcnj\/","title":{"rendered":"AI Tools for the RCNJ Community"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools Available to RCNJ<\/h3>\n<p>This page provides the latest guidance on use of AI tools on campus, their availability, and the status of the College&#8217;s stance on AI.<\/p>\n<h4>Policy &amp; Guidance<\/h4>\n<p>RCNJ provides structured guidance on the use of AI tools across different contexts.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For an overview of the College&#8217;s <strong>general stance<\/strong> <strong>on AI<\/strong> in the workplace, see the policy titled <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/policies\/policy\/use-of-ai-in-workplace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Workplace.<\/a> <\/em><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>In short, users must not upload or submit any personal or sensitive information when using any AI tool.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Faculty<\/strong> can find specific <strong>guidance tailored to teaching and research<\/strong> through the Instructional Design Center&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/idc\/teaching-with-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Teaching with AI<\/a> site, which outlines responsible and ethical integration in academic settings.<\/li>\n<li>For insights from the broader academic perspective, including best practices and considerations for <strong>scholarly work<\/strong> and <strong>integrity considerations<\/strong>, refer to the Provost&#8217;s site <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/provost\/artificial-intelligence\/\">Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These resources collectively offer a framework for thoughtful and informed use of AI tools in professional and educational contexts. All existing policies, state regulations, and standards still apply, such as Ramapo&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/policies\/policy\/data-protection-pii\/\">Data Protection Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Disclaimer<\/h4>\n<p>AI tools may not always be accurate and do not necessarily reflect official positions. Some tools can also contain biases. Microsoft&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/copilot.microsoft.com\/\"><strong data-start=\"130\" data-end=\"141\">Copilot<\/strong><\/a> is also available, and <strong data-start=\"233\" data-end=\"261\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/\">OpenAI<\/a> individual free accounts<\/strong> are permitted; however, the College is not providing additional paid accounts for either at this time.<\/p>\n<p>While these AI tools are available for use, they <strong>do not<\/strong> supersede or alter any instructor\u2019s established course requirements, guidelines, or directives.
