Grade Replacement Request Form<\/h3>\n

Undergraduate and graduate students are allowed to request grade replacements under certain circumstances, which allows a previously earned grade to be excluded from their cumulative grade point average (GPA) calculation. If a student chooses to do a grade replacement, they must first retake the course they would like to replace the previous grade in. After retaking the course, the student must request a grade replacement using this form.<\/p>\n

Undergraduate students may only replace four<\/strong> grades total<\/strong> during their academic career, and
\ngraduate students may only replace two grades total<\/strong> during their academic career. Students should consult with their advisor or graduate program director before requesting the grade replacement. All grade replacement must be requested before a student applies for graduation. Once a student graduates, a grade
\nreplacement cannot be requested as no changes of any kind can be made to the academic record.<\/p>\n

NOTE\u00a0ON PATHWAYS\/ZERO-CREDIT COURSES:<\/strong> As zero-credit courses have no impact on a student\u2019s GPA, using a grade replacement for these courses will not have impact on the student\u2019s GPA. If requested, it will be processed accordingly and will count towards the student\u2019s total grade replacements.<\/p>\n

NOTE ON ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:<\/strong> Grade replacement is not available for a course in which an academic integrity violation occurred and the sanction was an F. A student may not substitute an Independent Study for the course being replaced and use a grade replacement.<\/p>\n

NOTE ON SUSPENSION AND DISMISSAL: <\/strong>Students who have been suspended or dismissed and wish to appeal those actions must request all applicable grade replacements prior to submitting written appeals for immediate reinstatement. Students who accept their suspensions or dismissals or who are later notified that their appeal was not approved may not request any grade replacements until they are approved to return to the College.<\/p>\n

How do I register for a retake course?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you failed the previous course (earned an \u201cF\u201d) and you would like to replace the grade, you must register yourself for the retake course following the normal registration process in Web Self-Service. If you passed the previous course (earned a \u201cD\u201d or above) and you would like to replace the grade, you must complete a Retake Course Form and submit it to the Office of the Registrar so that you may be registered for the course. After registering for the retake course, you can then fill out the Grade Replacement Form.<\/p>\n

NOTE FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS<\/strong>: Graduate students must receive approval from their Graduate Program Director before completing the Grade Replacement Form.<\/p>\n

How does it affect my GPA?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Once the grade replacement is applied, the most recent previously earned grade in the course will be excluded from the calculation of the student\u2019s cumulative GPA. (Note: Some graduate\/professional school
\nadmission processes will re-calculate a student\u2019s GPA to include all grades earned.) Once the grade replacement has been posted to the student\u2019s academic transcript, past and current cumulative and semester GPAs will be updated automatically, but the history of academic standing will not change on the
\ntranscript.<\/p>\n

How does it affect my transcript?<\/strong><\/p>\n

When a student is approved for the grade replacement after successfully retaking a course, an R will appear next to the original grade earned in the course on the student\u2019s transcript (e.g., RC-, RD+, RF). Once the grade replacement has been posted to the student\u2019s academic transcript, past and current cumulative and semester GPAs will be updated automatically, but the history of academic standing will not change.<\/p>\n

What happens with my credits earned?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Credits earned for each course can only be counted once towards graduation once (e.g. students who retook one 4 credit course will need to take 132 credits total to graduate).<\/p>\n

How many courses can I replace the grade for?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Undergraduate students<\/span>: four courses total during your academic career at the College.<\/p>\n
