{"id":86,"date":"2013-01-25T10:30:34","date_gmt":"2013-01-25T15:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/registrar\/?page_id=86"},"modified":"2026-03-23T09:44:05","modified_gmt":"2026-03-23T13:44:05","slug":"online-course-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/registrar\/online-course-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Online Course Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Policy and Procedure<\/h3>\n<p>Please carefully read the registration policies and procedures completely before registering for an online course.<\/p>\n<p>Effective Summer 2020 term will transition to the Learning Management System known as Canvas.<\/p>\n<div class=\"infoBox col-sm-12 col-lg-12 \"><div class=\"boxContent\"><strong>Canvas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Canvas Learning Management System Tutorials for Students<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/idc\/canvas\/\">https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/idc\/canvas\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/div><\/div>\n<h4><strong>\u00a0How do Ramapo College online courses work?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Classes will be held on Canvas Learning Management System.<\/li>\n<li>You <strong>MUST<\/strong> contact your professor for any additional hardware and software requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarize yourself with the learning management system.<\/li>\n<li>Your e-mail username and password are the login information required to access each system.<\/li>\n<li>Classes will be held on a regular basis; some will be self-paced, but some will require you to meet at specific times (generally in small groups, to be arranged by your professor according to your schedule).<\/li>\n<li>Check with your professor to verify when courses will be held.<\/li>\n<li>Review the professor\u2019s syllabus on the Canvas Learning Management System.<\/li>\n<li>Verify that you have the correct materials and textbooks required for the start of your class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Admission for New Students (Not Required for Matriculated Ramapo Students)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Review the admission instructions for non-matriculated student on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/non-degree\/\">Admissions<\/a>\u00a0website.<\/li>\n<li>Review the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/academic-calendars\/\">Academic Calendar<\/a> for deadline dates.\u00a0 (Select future calendar to select the correct term.)<\/li>\n<li>Submit the completed form and documentation to the Admissions Office.\u00a0 These documents can be faxed or mailed to this office.<\/li>\n<li>Once the documents have been received, a Ramapo ID Number (R number) and pin will then be issued.\u00a0 A Ramapo ID number and pin are required to register for all classes.<\/li>\n<li>It is the student&#8217;s responsibility to register on the web for all their courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Academic Advising<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>All students should obtain advisement before registering for courses.\u00a0 Visiting students should obtain advisement from their home institution before taking a course at Ramapo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Registering for the course<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/registrar\/instructions-how-to-use-class-schedule-course-description-search\/\">Look up course of interest<\/a> under the <a href=\"https:\/\/myssb.ramapo.edu\/StudentRegistrationSsb\/ssb\/term\/termSelection?mode=search\">Schedule of Classes<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Review the course details for the pre-requisites and requirements for the course.<\/li>\n<li>A limited number of seats are available for these courses.<\/li>\n<li>The last day to register for courses is the first day of each session.<\/li>\n<li>Register online for the class you wish to take.<\/li>\n<li>Once registered, please review the &#8220;Important Questions To Ask Concerning Online Courses&#8221; for additional information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Tuition and Course Fee<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Payment options and information can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/student-accounts\/\">Student Accounts<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Financial Aid<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Please review the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/finaid\/\">Financial Aid<\/a>\u00a0website for additional information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Drop Policy<\/h3>\n<h4><strong>100% Drop Policy<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Review the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/academic-calendars\/\">Academic Calendar<\/a>\u00a0for the 100%\u00a0Drop Deadline\u00a0Dates.
