{"id":81,"date":"2019-04-26T14:23:42","date_gmt":"2019-04-26T18:23:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/reslife-test\/?page_id=81"},"modified":"2026-02-24T10:41:54","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T15:41:54","slug":"housing-selection","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/reslife\/housing-selection\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall 2026 Housing Selection Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"infoBox col-sm-12 col-lg-12 \"><div class=\"boxContent\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">DETAILS ABOUT OUR PROCESS<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Eligible residents may only proceed through the process as either a 2 or 4 person group or as an individual.\n<ul>\n<li>Incomplete groups (i.e. a group of 3) will be separated and your declaration will be changed to an individual.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Admittance time priority will be given to all <strong>four-person groups<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>followed by all two-person groups;<\/li>\n<li>followed by individuals.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">followed by groups that include commuter students\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>For example, a 4-person group of sophomores would have an admittance time before a 2-person group of seniors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>You may select from available housing options during the time of your admittance time.<\/li>\n<li>You will have the opportunity to sign up for Room Reassignment after you have selected your housing during Step 3.<\/li>\n<li>The Housing Selection Information sessions are MANDATORY for First-year and Transfer students who are new to housing for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026.<span style=\"color: #000000\"> There will be two sessions to choose from.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Commuter students (who currently do not live on campus) who submitted the $500 Housing Selection Deposit are eligible to participate in the Housing Selection process as part of a group. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><em><strong>Please note this restriction for groups with commuters<\/strong><\/em>:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">If your group includes any commuter students you will select housing after <strong>all<\/strong> current residential groups (4 person, 2 person, Individuals) have finished selecting their housing.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000\">Online Housing Selection Process<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The Online Housing Selection Process is a three step pr<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">o<\/span>cess for current resident students to reserve a room in on campus housing for the Academic Year 2026-2027.<\/p>\n<p>2 and 4 person groups are not allowed to pull anyone up who has fewer credits than they do and is not in their class status to select at their designated time. If you want to live with someone who has fewer credits than you and is not within your class status, you will need to select housing at their admittance time. An email will be sent to all eligible residents on February 27, 2026 that indicates your earned credits. \u00a0Please be sure to communicate your credit category with your intended group members PRIOR to Step Two. It is the responsibility of all group members to be aware of each other&#8217;s earned credits and class status prior to creating your group during Step Two.<\/p>\n<div class=\"table-responsive\">\n<table class=\"table table-hover table-striped table-bordered\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Class Status<\/strong><\/td>\n<td><strong>Credit Categories<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Seniors<\/td>\n<td>96 credits and above<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Juniors<\/td>\n<td>64-95 credits<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Sophomores<\/td>\n<td>32-63 credits<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Freshmen<\/td>\n<td>0-31 credits<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"divider\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/rcnjrd\/images\/icons\/ramapo-arch-icom_rule.png\" alt=\"Ramapo\" \/><\/div>\n<h3>Housing Selection Order<\/h3>\n<div class=\"infoBox col-sm-12 col-lg-12  whiteBox\"><div class=\"boxTitle\">Admittance times<\/div><div class=\"boxContent\">\n<p>Admittance times will be determined by the number of earned credits at the end of the Fall 2025 semester and group size.<\/p>\n<p>Admittance time priority will be given to all <strong>four-person groups<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>followed by all two-person groups;<\/li>\n<li>followed by individuals.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">followed by four person groups with commuter students\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">followed by two person groups with commuter students<\/span><\/li>\n<li>For example: a 4-person group of sophomores would have an admittance time before a 2-person group of seniors.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">For example: a 4-person group of juniors with 2 commuters would receive an admittance time after all current residential individuals admittance times.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>If you experience technical difficulty during Step\u00a0Two or Step Three of the online Housing Selection Process,\u00a0you must contact the Office of Residence Life immediately at 201-684-7461 during the College&#8217;s hours of operation (Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm).<\/p>\n<h3>Three Step Process<\/h3>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>Housing Selection Step One<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<p>You must have submitted your non-refundable $500.00 housing deposit to be eligible to participate in the process.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>Housing Selection Step Two<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<h4>Prior\u00a0to Step Two:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Decide if you will participate in Housing Selection as an individual (by yourself) or a predetermined 2 or 4 person group.<\/li>\n<li>Secure roommates to complete groups of 2 or 4 if going through the process as a group.\u00a0 Decide who will be the group leader.\u00a0 The group leader will be the only person who can select the housing assignment for the group. All 2 or 4 person groups must designate a group leader.<\/li>\n<li>You may wish to look for roommates to complete groups of 2 or 4 by attending one or more of the Roommate Mixers hosted by the Office of Residence Life to meet and mingle.<\/li>\n<li>You may also utilize the housing portal if you would like to search for others who are looking for a roommate.\u00a0 In order to use this feature, during Step 2, you must click on the \u201cSearch for Roommates by Profile\u201d OR if you would like the portal to suggest roommates click on the \u201cSuggest Roommates\u201d button. For either of these options selected, you will have the ability to request them, send them a message and\/or view their profile.<\/li>\n<li>Residents with a newly documented disability who wish to request an accommodation must contact and affiliate with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/oss\/\">Office of Specialized Services<\/a> no later than March 15, 2026.<\/li>\n<li>Review your credits as of the end of the Fall 2025 semester (the current Spring 2026 semester does not count) \u2013 if there is a discrepancy, please provide the Office of Residence Life with the correct information along with documentation to prove the discrepancy by emailing <a href=\"mailto:reslife@ramapo.edu\">reslife@ramapo.edu<\/a> before March 3, 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>STEP TWO: March 3 through March 12 (Declaration)<\/h4>\n<p>Every person who completed Step ONE must do the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Complete the online Housing Selection application before 10:00 am on March 12.<\/li>\n<li>Declare yourself in the portal as an individual or a group (only groups of 2 or 4 are allowed).<\/li>\n<li>If you are in a group, make sure the group is verified before 10:00 am on March 12.<\/li>\n<li>Sign your Housing Contract Terms and Conditions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Step TWO must be completed by March 12, 2026\u00a0 before 10:00 am in order to access Step THREE.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>If You Declared as a 2 or 4 Person Group:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>The group leader will create and name your group.<\/li>\n<li>The group leader will share the group name and password with the group.<\/li>\n<li>All group members must log into the Housing Portal and select the option \u201cJoin Group.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>If your group members are all going to be 21 by May 1, 2027, and wish to live in alcohol allowed housing, every single group member must declare ALCOHOL ALLOWED in order to obtain alcohol allowed housing. Additionally, all group members would need to comply with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/reslife\/specialty-housing\/#s2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alcohol Allowed Housing Application<\/a> process in the Fall.<\/li>\n<li>After all members have joined the group, the group leader must <strong>VERIFY<\/strong> the group to officially validate it. Each group member will receive an e-mail verification once the group leader has verified the group.\u00a0 No changes will be allowed after the group is VERIFIED.<\/li>\n<li>Each group member must log in and sign their Housing Contract Terms and Conditions once group is verified.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>If You Declared Yourself as an Individual:<\/h4>\n<p>As an individual, you will be assigned an admittance time in accordance to the housing selection guidelines.\u00a0 During your admittance time, you will have the opportunity to log into the Housing Portal and select, based on availability, your housing for the academic year.\u00a0 If you will be 21 by May 1, 2027 and wish to reside in alcohol allowed housing, you MUST select &#8220;alcohol allowed&#8221; during the alcohol allowed housing step. \u00a0Please keep in mind that as an individual, you will be selecting housing at the end of the process, therefore, we are unable to determine if there will be any alcohol allowed housing options available at your admittance time.\u00a0 All students wishing to reside in Alcohol Allowed housing would need to comply with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/reslife\/specialty-housing\/#s2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alcohol Allowed Housing Application<\/a> process in the Fall.<\/p>\n<h4>If You Would Like to Search For A Roommate to Complete Your 2 or 4 Person Group:<\/h4>\n<p>During Step 2, if you would like the portal to suggest roommates click on the \u201cSuggest Roommates\u201d button OR if you would like to search for others who are looking for a roommate please click on the \u201cSearch for Roommates by Profile.\u201d For either of these options selected, you will have the ability to request them, send them a message and\/or view their profile. In order to have the ability to search for others, they must have at least started their housing application.<\/p>\n<h4>Incomplete Groups<\/h4>\n<p>Incomplete groups are groups without the required number of participants. Examples would include a group of 3 who declared themselves as a 4 person group, or an individual who has declared themselves as a group of 2 or 4. The group leader will not be able to verify an incomplete group.<\/p>\n<p>Your incomplete group will be separated and your declaration will be changed to an individual.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>Housing Selection Step Three<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;color: #ff0000\"><strong>If you missed Step One or Step Two, you will not have access to Step Three and must complete and submit an Alternate Housing Application.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>STEP THREE: April 7 through April 14 (Room Selection)<\/h4>\n<h4>If You Are in a Group:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>You must have completed STEP ONE AND STEP TWO in order to participate in STEP THREE.<\/li>\n<li>Be sure to check your e-mail on April 1, 2026\u00a0 at 2:30pm for your admittance time. If your admittance time is not received by 10:00 am on April 2, e-mail <a href=\"mailto:reslife@ramapo.edu\">reslife@ramapo.edu.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Only your group leader will log into the Housing Portal at your assigned admittance time and select an exact housing location for all group members.<\/li>\n<li>All group members must select a meal plan (if applicable). Your group leader must inform all group members that the housing location was selected and then all group members must log back into the Housing Portal and select a meal plan (if applicable). Those who are required to select a meal plan and do not make a selection will automatically be assigned the Tasty 10 meal plan option.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Once all group members have selected a meal plan (if applicable), the process is complete.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><strong>If You Are an Individual:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>You must have completed STEP ONE AND STEP TWO.<\/li>\n<li>As an individual, you will be assigned an admittance time in accordance to the housing selection guidelines.\u00a0 During your admittance time, you will have the opportunity to log into the Housing Portal and select, based on availability, your housing for the academic year.\u00a0 If you will be 21 by May 1, 2027 and wish to reside in alcohol allowed housing, you MUST select &#8220;alcohol allowed&#8221; during the alcohol allowed housing step. \u00a0Please keep in mind that as an individual, you will be selecting housing at the end of the process, therefore, we are unable to determine if there will be any alcohol allowed housing options available at your admittance time.\u00a0 All students wishing to reside in Alcohol Allowed housing would need to comply with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/reslife\/specialty-housing\/#s2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alcohol Allowed Housing Application<\/a> process in the Fall.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Individuals must select a meal plan (if applicable). Should you not select a meal plan, you will automatically be assigned the Tasty 10 meal plan.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"infoBox col-sm-12 col-lg-12 \"><div class=\"boxContent\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;color: #ff0000\"><strong>IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT STEP THREE<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Once your admittance time begins, you have until the last day of the online housing selection process to choose your housing location. However, since popular housing areas close up quickly you should log into the Housing Portal at your admittance time.<\/li>\n<li>If you go over your allotted five minutes, the next assigned admittance time could potentially take your desired location. For every five minutes that passes another group is logging into the portal. Therefore, the longer it takes you to make your selection, the chances that you will get your preferred choice of housing decreases.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Your housing assignment is not guaranteed and the applications for all group members remains incomplete until all members of the group have logged back into the housing portal and selected a meal plan (if applicable).<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Failure to complete this step may result in the removal of your housing assignment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>If You Missed Steps One, Two Or Three<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<p>Students who DID NOT complete Steps One, Two or Three and are still interested in housing for Fall 2026 must complete an Alternate Housing Application and submit the $500 non-refundable housing deposit by May 12, 2026 (if you DID NOT pay the $500 housing deposit already). Alternate Housing Applications will be available on the Residence Life website on April 15, 2026 and must be submitted electronically by May 12, 2026. Housing Charges (posted as HTBA &#8211; &#8220;Housing To Be Announced&#8221;) will be posted to your student account on or about July 9, 2026.\u00a0 \u00a0HTBA charges are billed at our highest housing rate. Tuition\/housing bills are due prior to finding out your actual housing location, therefore, should you be placed in an area that is priced differently, you may be entitled to a refund.<\/p>\n<p>After May 12, 2026 if you did not complete the Alternate Housing Application, you will <strong><em>forfeit the opportunity to be guaranteed housing<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Then, you must follow the reapplication process.\u00a0 This process includes submitting a $200 non-refundable housing deposit (if you DID NOT pay the $500 housing deposit already) and a commuter housing application (applications available by contacting the Office of Residence Life).\u00a0 Once your application is received, your name will be placed on the Commuter Housing List for Fall 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h4>Additional Resources:<\/h4>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>Housing Selection Timeline<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<h4>February 2026<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>February 2<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; our process defaults to this option.\u00a0 You <strong>MUST<\/strong> follow the housing selection procedures outlined.<\/p>\n<h3 align=\"left\">Option #2:<\/h3>\n<h4>Action required. You must email apcredit@ramapo.edu.<\/h4>\n<p align=\"left\">Utilize none of your Advanced Placement or Middle College Credits in order to select housing with students that entered Ramapo in the same semester as you.\u00a0 You will be required to e-mail <a href=\"mailto:apcredit@ramapo.edu\">apcredit@ramapo.edu<\/a>\u00a0indicating that you\u00a0<strong>DO NOT<\/strong> want an admittance time based on your Advanced Placement or Middle College credits.\u00a0 Therefore your admittance time will be based on earned credits on file at Ramapo which <strong>DOES NOT <\/strong>include your Advanced Placement Credits and\/or Middle College Credits.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Please be\u00a0sure to include the following information within the e-mail:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name<\/li>\n<li>Banner R#<\/li>\n<li>Statement indicating that you DO NOT want your Advanced Placement or Middle College Credits considered in your admittance time.<\/li>\n<li>How many Advanced Placement or Middle College Credits you have earned (we are unable to accommodate requests for partial usage of Advanced Placement or Middle College Credits)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>If you do not include the required information listed above within the e-mail, you will automatically be assigned an admittance time based on your credit category which includes your Advanced Placement or Middle College Credits.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><div class=\"infoBox col-sm-12 col-lg-12 \"><div class=\"boxContent\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>The Office of Residence Life will begin accepting e-mails for this request on February 27, 2026.\u00a0 Requests must be received by March 6, 2026. \u00a0Due to the Housing Selection timeline and its limited time constraints, the Office of Residence Life will be unable to process any requests for OPTION #2 after March 6, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>Room Reassignment<\/div><div class=\"c_content\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The Room Reassignment process will allow students to\u00a0<strong>request<\/strong> to be removed from the space in which they reserved during housing selection and be reassigned to another area\/room (based on availability). Students will have the opportunity to request for a room reassignment during Step 3 of the housing selection process. Students who wish to request a room reassignment as a group <strong>must each sign up individually for a room reassignment request. If ALL MEMBERS OF YOUR GROUP DO NOT SIGN UP, you will not be relocated as a group.<\/strong>\u00a0Room Reassignment will occur in the summer. We are able to accommodate room reassignments as vacancies become available throughout the summer. If we are able to accommodate your room reassignment request, you will be contacted via your Ramapo e-mail.
