In 1992, the nonprofit A&A Ridgewood Registered Professional Nurses Association (鈥淎&A鈥�) was incorporated by registered nurses to 鈥減romote the excellence of independent and private nursing practice.鈥� For over 31 years, the organization referred its nurse members to care for patients ranging from new mothers to those on ventilators. In 1994, A&A nurses successfully lobbied the NJ legislature to amend the NJ Patient Bill of Rights, granting hospitalized patients the right 鈥渢o contract directly with a NJ licensed registered nurse of the patient鈥檚 choosing for private professional care.鈥�

To advance its goal of promoting the profession of nursing, A&A awarded a scholarship to an undergraduate nursing student at Ramapo College each year since 2003. In 2018-2019, A&A endowed this fund to award annual scholarships of equal value to two outstanding senior nursing students. A&A ceased operations in 2023, leaving this endowment to future RNs as A&A鈥檚 lasting legacy.
