Carol Duncan Scholarship

Carol Duncan is a renowned art historian who served as a faculty member in the Ramapo College School of Contemporary Arts from 1972 until she retired in 2005. An expert in the history of museums in the United States, she is the author of numerous books and articles. Her most recent work is titled, 鈥淎 Matter of Class: John Cotton Dana, Progressive Reform, and the Newark Museum.鈥

Professor Emerita at Ramapo College, Dr. Duncan received her B.A. and M.A. from the University of Chicago and Ph.D. from Columbia University. Professor Duncan is well known as one of the pioneers of a new social-political approach to art history and criticism and has been one of the strongest feminist voices in the 鈥渘ew art history.鈥 She chose to create this scholarship endowment to benefit students in Visual Arts.
