The Academic year workshops are taught by Ramapo College faculty and other professionals from the community.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Summer:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-32 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/stem-center\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/390\/2023\/11\/Upward-bound-Group-Photo-2021-768x498-1-300x195.jpg\" alt=\"A group of students wearing purple t-shirts smiling outside\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/stem-center\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/390\/2023\/11\/Upward-bound-Group-Photo-2021-768x498-1-300x195.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/stem-center\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/390\/2023\/11\/Upward-bound-Group-Photo-2021-768x498-1.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Participants spend six weeks during the summer living on the Ramapo College campus and taking specially designed courses in science, math, language arts, computer skills, foreign language, and problem solving skills.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">The summer courses are taught by certified high school teachers, and the curriculum is designed jointly by high school teachers and the Ramapo College math and science faculty.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Afternoon and evenings are filled with study hall, cultural, and recreational activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Expectations:<\/h4>\n<p>Participants are expected to stay in the program from the time he or she is admitted until graduation from high school. It will benefit the student who may have trouble getting into college because of limited financial or educational resources that puts him or her at a disadvantage when competing with more affluent peers attending well financed suburban or private schools.<\/p>\n<p><b>In order to be a part of the Ramapo College Upward Bound program, a student must<\/b>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Have U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or be applying for permanent residency.<\/li>\n<li>Must not have a parent with a Bachelor\u2019s Degree and\/or<\/li>\n<li>Have family income of no more than 150% of the federally determined poverty level.<\/li>\n<li>Attend one of the following Paterson, New Jersey high schools: (please contact the corresponding Guidance Office)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>John F. All necessary supplies, books, room and board, and transportation will be provided for by Ramapo College.
